Gym Bag

We’re pretty sure you’re not going to forget your gym bag but… just in case: make sure you bring your gym bag!

Consider this your most essential item; the home of everything you need at the gym: your towel, gym clothes, shakers and more.

Maybe you’re the ‘carry ten things at once kind of person', or you simply don’t bring enough to the gym to need a bag; well, after we’re finished here, you’re going to want one.

The Basics

Let’s talk basics. These are the absolute must-haves that you can’t go to the gym without.

Membership Card

We’ll start with your membership card because you really can’t go to the gym without that one, especially if you’re planning a session after hours.

If you have a fob, attach it to your keys, and if you have a card, then it’s probably safest in your wallet. Either way, ensure you always keep it somewhere close (Maybe in that new gym bag that you’re going to buy?).

Water Bottle

You can’t function if you aren’t hydrated, and you can’t stay hydrated without a water bottle handy. Most gym machines have cup holders for your water bottles now, so they’re easy to transport around the gym.

Water bottles are relatively cheap, so if you’re a gym-goer who frequents the water cooler, it might be time to invest in a water bottle. If purple is your colour, you might like our ASN Stainless Steel Bottle.

Gym Towel

Most gyms today require you to carry your own towel, so you definitely don’t want to forget to pack one in your gym bag.

Whether you sweat a lot during a workout or hardly at all, bringing a towel to the gym is good for hygiene and will help to soak up any moisture left behind while using the equipment.

Microfiber towels are always a gym bag must-have as they dry quickly and are highly absorbent. Our ASN Fuelled Towel will fit perfectly in your gym bag.

If you’re planning on taking a shower afterwards, you might also consider adding a second towel to your gym bag.

Earbuds or Headphones

Sometimes the gym ambience just doesn’t cut it, so if you want to elevate your levels with your own workout playlist, make sure you add earbuds and headphones to your essential gym item list.

Lock

Most gyms will have lockers for you to store your gym bag in, but if you want that extra bit of security, you might find it beneficial to bring your own lock.

Gym Clothing

Unless you’re planning on working out in jeans and dress shoes, you should prioritise packing a clean set of gym clothes before every trip. Trust me, there’s nothing worse than showing up and starting to get changed, just to realise you haven’t brought shorts.

So, here are a few clothing items that belong in your gym bag:

Shoes

You don’t want to jump on the treadmill in Doc Martens (or slides!), so we recommend bringing the right pair of shoes to suit your workout activities.

You could get shoes specific to running, shoes designed for indoor activities or simply find yourself a suitable pair of all-purpose gym shoes. Either way, footwear that will keep you comfortable while you train is a gym bag must-have!

Socks

You’ll want to find yourself a nice pair of light, breathable gym socks to improve your performance. Our ASN Fuelled Ankle Socks are comfortable, durable and ideal for all your gym activities.

Workout Shorts & Shirt

It’s an obvious inclusion, but you’ll get the best results out of each gym session if you’re wearing light, breathable and comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement while you train. If you want to train in style, our Evolve Unisex Training Tank might be just what you need.

Headgear

If you have long hair or hair that gets in your face when you’re trying to lift weights, then consider adding hair ties, clips, headbands or even a sports cap to your gym bag. We want to avoid the burning sensation of sweat dripping into your eyes on a final squat. If you know, you know.

Smart Watch or Heart Rate Monitor

If you’re serious about tracking your progress, consider purchasing a Heart Rate Monitor or even an everyday Smart Watch.

This will allow you to track your steps, heart rate during a session, time, speed, calories burned, and many other aspects of your workout.

Personal Care Items

Your gym hygiene is important, especially if you’re heading out after a sweaty session. Here are a few must-haves that will leave you feeling fresh and rejuvenated after a rewarding workout.

Towel

Hairbrush

Deodorant

Shampoo and conditioner

Shower shoes

Soap

Washcloth

Hair ties

Change of clothes

Makeup wipes

Supplements

Sometimes you just need that little extra kick to boost you through a workout or help you recover after one. We have a range of Pre-Workouts and Protein Powders that may help you get the best out of every gym session.

If you’re looking for a great bundle to support your body goals and fuel your workout, then our ASN Life Body Goals Pack may be exactly the thing to add to your gym bag.

Our ASN Life Body Goals Pack comes with a 60-day membership to our ASN Life App, a game-changing formula in Evolve Pyro, 225g of Evolve Carnitine RX and an Evolve Shaker to make consumption convenient. With this bundle, you can get the best out of every workout with a great bundle of products and workout guides that will work together to help you achieve your targets.

Workout-specific Items

Depending on what you’re doing, there are a few specific items that you might want to stash inside your gym bag.

Resistance Bands

If you want to level up your workouts and smash your body goals, then it might be time to purchase a resistance band. Our ASN Resistance Bands come in three different resistance strengths and will help you take your sessions to the next level. Compact, lightweight and multifunctional, our Resistance Bands are great whether you’re a beginner or an avid gym-goer.

Yoga Mat

Even if you aren’t using it specifically for yoga, a yoga mat will provide a softer surface for any stretches and exercises you’re doing on the ground. If you hate how much planking hurts your elbows, try a yoga mat.

Workout Log

If you want to keep track of each session to push yourself further each time you visit the gym, you should definitely consider a workout log. Whether in book form or via an app, tracking each workout is a great way to keep yourself motivated. It also allows you to check your progress and create a routine based on your workout goals.
