I signed up for the challenge this time because I had been very slack with my training and diet for the last few months. I had completed the 10 week challenge earlier this year, and was very disappointed with myself that I had backtracked almost the same point before I started. I have also been having some trouble with my digestive health, finding out I have some food intolerances. I wanted to get myself back into good health and back into a proper routine for training and diet, the six week challenge was exactly what I needed.
I went to it with the full intention of bettering what I had achieved in the last challenge. I did some sort of training everyday, doing weights with my trainer, Grit cardio classes, tabata and running. I was very strict with the diet, which also helped me understand better my own digestive health. And I made some sacrifices, the hardest of which when I went for a long weekend break with my fiancée to Sydney half way through the challenge. Eating in restaurants is tough when you are being strict. There are too many nice things to have, and my sweet tooth had to go hungry! I also had to be good on my work's Christmas dinner. That was hard, and took a lot of self-control!
I have to say I couldn't have done it without the support and understanding of everyone around me, especially my fiancée Matt, and the team at my work, Specsavers in Cannonvale (I am the Optometrist partner there). And big thanks to my personal trainer Kieran Rundle and everyone at my gym, Gravity Fitness, in Airlie Beach, who pushed me harder than I could have done alone. I think my success is as much theirs as it is mine.
Thanks ASN for running the challenge. It's hard work but worth it all in the end!
