Overview (A Little About Me)I am a “Strength and conditioning” coach at the ACT Academy of sport with a degree in “coaching science”. I look after many athletes on scholarship, making them stronger, more powerful, or whatever they require to become the best in the world. I am currently training for Powerlifting competitions. InterestsSpending time with my girlfriend Deb, Powerlifting, sneakers and extremely loud and down tuned music. I also love to research, for work…and my own training. Favourites (Food, Bodyparts, People)Food: It changes…but Steak is a mainstay.
Bodyparts: I don’t train bodyparts…but my quads never stop growing!
People: Down to earth people who don’t feel the need to impress others. People who have genuine interests and seek out their passions…instead of deciding what they like based on others opinions. Motivations (What Motivates Me)What motivates me is the challenge to be better, to lift more and to push it everyday. My girlfriend provides a lot of motivation (as long as I don’t get hurt). I have been caught in the trap of worrying about what everyone else can lift…not what I can lift. I have learnt to not to put limits on my strength, or compare it to anyone…just push every session. Never be complacent, always push it. Training History (Years, Location, Trainer)5yrs. Started out at home lifting to lose weight and “tone up”, then Lifting for Capital Weightlifting, representing Canberra in Olympic style weightlifting (Clean and Jerk). I have now moved to the sport of Powerlifting. I am currently coaching myself, with the help of other coaches all across the world. Training Schedule (Training Style and Tips)I train 4 times a week. Deadlift and squat are trained either using soviet or more traditional progressive overload methods. I squat anywhere between 1-4 days a week, and deadlift 1-2 times a week, depending where I am in the season.
Bench press is trained 2 times a week, with one day dedicated to Maximal Strength and the other to speed and force development. Nutrition (Examples of My Diet)Very High protein. Competition History1st 2005 ACT weightlifting Championships
1st 2004 ACT weightlifting Championships
Many more to come! Goals (Future Plans and Career Expectations)First Capture the Australian Deadlift record, then the squat record. Represent Australia in international competition. Squat 400kgs in single ply gear, drug tested at my current bodyweight. Best Advice (Fitness, Health and Training)1. Get in the squat rack!!!!!!
2. The muscles you can’t see in the mirror are the ones that will help you perform.
3. All the best training programs/styles don’t factor in laziness. Supplements UsedSAN - ZMA Pro
