Overview (A Little About Me)
Hi Im Chris Mooney, I have been playing American Football since I was 15yrs old and the thing I enjoy most about it is the direct relationship the sport has with speed, strength and power. I have been an ASN sponsored athlete since early 2008 and have now joined the ASN Team as Manager of the Mermaid Beach store. Not many people can say they are employed in their dream job, I am now one of those people!!
I play Linebacker which is a defensive position, my role is simple..stop the ball carrier!
My training background is predominately power based with a focus on sports specific movements. I love going into battle against other teams and leading by example to bring the best out in my own teammates.
The sport of Gridiron is very explosive and specialised, each player has a job to do and the entire team depends on each player performing their role to be successful. It really is the ultimate team sport.

I like most foods but my favourite would have to be Chicken.
I have always been a fan of Deadlifts the movement is functional and sports specific..plus it's a great feeling moving big weight!

Motivations (What Motivates Me)
Im a goal setter, I like to set small goals that will ultimately lead me to my major goal for that period.
My training is now focussed on preparing for the American Football World Cup in Austria 2011. Australia will be looking to turn heads on and off the field against the worlds best!
Training History (Years, Location, Trainer)
I first stepped into the gym when I was 15 learning basic power lifting techniques, I soon became hooked and have been into strength training ever since. I finished my Cert IV in fitness in 2002 and began training others specialising in strength sports like league, union and gridiron. I am a big fan of the Westside programs and also Joe DeFranco's use of these techniques with athletes.
Training Schedule (Training Style and Tips)
Mostly sport specific training with the good old majors thrown in for measurement. Core training and after recent injury I have a renewed love of flexiblity training and stretching.
Nutrition (Examples of My Diet)
Cereal and fruit or eggs most mornings, Grilled steak or chicken and salad sandwhich on brown bread for lunch and grilled lean meat and steamed veges or stir fry most nights. A bit of grazing on fruit during the day also.

Queensland MVP during National Championships 2008,
2009 Undefeated Champions - Gold Coast Stingrays, Named on the Gridiron QLD 25yr All Star Team.

Goals (Future Plans and Career Expectations)
To continue to improve and learn and to make ASN not just a leader in the sports nutrition field but to make it the household name across Australia for all things related to living a healthy lifestyle!
I hope to be able to contribute to the sport of Gridiron here in Australia both on and off the field and hopefully see it reach at stage where we are competitive with some of the bigger Football countries like Canada and the USA.
