"Life is a journey not a destination" Overview (A Little About Me)Like most people in the fitness industry, I became involved in fitness at a very young age I started dancing (Calisthenics, ballet & tap) classes when I was 4 yrs old. Unfortunately as much as I loved dancing I hated performing. I tried jazz later in primary school but I still didn’t have the confidence to get up on stage.
Although I was very active, my self esteem was not where it should be.
During my high school days, I became obsessed with my weight, limiting my calorie in-take striving to be skinny...but then I discovered this wonderful place called a gymnasium. It was here that I left behind the body of a skinny teenage girl. I loved seeing my body transform right before my very eyes....I was becoming a woman, a woman with muscles. It didn’t take long before I was addicted to this thing they call weight training....so there I was 4-5 days a week in the weights room & back again that night for a step class.
The 90’s were all about aerobic fitness so even though I was training.. Weights were light & reps were high....the idea of lifting heavy hadn’t quite caught on in my women’s only gym!!!
It was easy to keep fit living on the Gold Coast it is after all the city of “beautiful people”! I began swimsuit modelling and working out almost every day...although my physique is a lot different now.
I was hooked so rain hail or shine I was at the gym. I was constantly being asked if I was training for something in particular or if I'd compete & my answer was always NO – there was after all my issue of stage fright. But I had this flame ignited in my belly that kept me hungry for more.....what could I do with this passion of mine???.....I wanted others to enjoy the same rush that I did every time I walked into the gym...I wanted others to know that there are no limits when it comes to changing how you feel & look so in 1999 I became a certified personal trainer & nutritionist.
I enjoy nothing more than helping others achieve their goals & getting a buzz from the transformations taking place. You can do anything you set your mind to when it comes to your body – build muscle, lose fat, gain lean body weight, get ripped/cut up, carb load, deplete. It’s not just about looking good it’s about feeling good.
I have learnt a lot & am still learning about the body’s energetic cycles and how nutrition, supplementation & exercise can have a positive impact on certain biochemical pathways leading to gains in the gym and ultimately improving your body’s overall conditioning
I wanted to be a part of the life I was reading about.... So with that I sold my apt & my new car & said good bye to my supportive & loving family & friends. I arrived in California on the 2nd July after a 26 hr flight. Venice Beach the mecca of fitness...I thought I was in heaven, That was until I started preparing for my own show....it’s a journey ...it’s a challenge both physically & mentally.there are days when the thought of eating any more brocolli or scrambled egg whites makes me want to throw up....I just want some coffee crunch gelati.....and can I really do one more rep when my body is shaking...I want to give up sometimes... but then I see another girl with that same look of determination & I know she too is making the same sacrifices.
My body is already leaner than when I arrived & each day there are changes taking place. I am more comfortable in my own skin now - a newfound confidence that I think most athletes & trainers alike find when they see a masterpiece unfolding before them & that’s what this is all about - transforming, re creating, sculpting.
Training with the likes of Donna Aston here in Aust & Chris Cormier, Jerome Ferguson & watching World Figure Champion Jenny Lynn has taught me to train hard, never stop trying, stay positive and be true to yourself, because dreams can come true!
I have learnt a lot about myself, my body and competing. My confidence has grown. I’m not trying to be the best dancer & I’m not doing this to be harder/ leaner/prettier than the girl next to me on stage....I’m doing this for me....an Aussie girl who is just living her dream!
InterestsThe gym is my second home, I love being outdoors whether at the beach or having coffee, dancing, my friends & family. Favourites (Food, Bodyparts, People)Does a soy latte count as a food group?? Love spicy food!
Addicted to spelt gado pies from Sols Vegetarian Cafe Southport & for a treat Mexican, gelato & gingerbread men.
