Overview (A Little About Me)I originally started as an elite sponsored athlete after meeting Simon and Kerrie in the Newcastle store back in 2003 after returning from competing at the Commonwealth Games. With their support and the correct use of supplements, diet tips and hard training I shed 8 kilos from my racing weight and continued to swim personal best times right up until my retirement from competitive swimming in 2007. I am now the proud co-owner of the Newcastle ASN store. Interests- I love to train, especially cardio
- Walking and spoiling my Rhodesian Ridgeback Tirra
- Shaun & I enjoy entertaining our family and friends in the comfort of our home.
- You can often find us enjoying the afternoon summer sun on weekends at Nobbys Beach where we are volunteer lifeguards. Favourites (Food, Bodyparts, People)Food would definitely have to be my Mums spaghetti bolognaise, so yum! And, a great breakfast at III Bean Cafe.
I admire strong legs and a tight butt and especially my fiances tight abs and strong arms... I prefer athleticism in a physique, usable muscle, but I do appreciate the hard work that goes into growing sheer muscle mass. Motivations (What Motivates Me)I truly enjoy my role as part of the ASN team. It's great helping people reach their goals and witnessing the happiness this can bring them. We have a great team environment in all ASN stores, it's especially fantastic when a regular shares their journey to reaching their goals with you. Training History (Years, Location, Trainer)I have been competing in swimming since I was 8 years old, with my greatest achievement so far being a finalist in the 400m I.M. at the 2002 Commonwealth Games. Training Schedule (Training Style and Tips)When I was still competing, my weekly training program included ed swimming up to 14 times a week, resistance training up to 7 times a week, cardio of walking or running every day, sometimes twice, and 2 RPM cycle classes. My fiance Shaun, was my coach and training partner for all training I did out of the water. Now that I no longer compete as a swimmer, I have enjoyed mixing my training program up. I now only swim 3 times a week (its an addictive sport!) but enjoy running daily with our dog and resistance training 5 days per week. Shaun & I still train together. I also regularly participate in my little sisters RPM classes at the Forum and BootCamp training with Brooke Dunlop at Planet Fitness, along with PT sessions weekly with Brooke. Nutrition (Examples of My Diet)I strive to keep my diet as clean as possible and maintain a high protein, low carb regime. Having carbs only early in the day like oats and rice. Shaun and I leave Saturday or Sunday as a cheat day and will treat ourselves usually with some ice cream or breakfast at our favorite cafe, III Bean in Hamilton. Competition HistoryI started training and competing in swimming at the age of 8. I have been a member of the Telstra Dolphins (Australian Swim Team) from the age of 16 years.
I represented Australia at the 2002 Commonwealth Games where I finished 6th in the 400m I.M. I have also represented Australia at the Pan Pacific Championships, Goodwill Games, East Asian Games, Oceania Championships and World Cup. I was ranked in the top 5 in Australia for my event for over 10 years. Goals (Future Plans and Career Expectations)My immediate goals include competing in the 2008-2009 SLSC season and completing the 2009 Sparke Helmore Traithlon as a solo competitor, both first times for me! Also, as Shaun and I plan to marry soon I'm mega focused to look my best for our big day :)
Ulitimately, I plan to stay fit and healthy for the rest of my life! Nothing beats feeling fit! Media Coverage (Calendars, Magazines and Newspapers)Mostly newspaper and local tv news for my swimming achievements. Best Advice (Fitness, Health and Training)Enjoy what you are doing, you won't reach your full potential if you don't. If you're lacking motivation consider a few sessions with a P.T. I've recently been participating in boot camp sessions with asn sponsored athlete Brooke Dunlop, and loving it!! Supplements UsedEvolve Slow Whey in French Vanilla is my favorite meal replacement shake and is great mixed in with your morning oats. I use Evolve Fast Whey in Tropical Crush as my post workout shake and take 10gm of L-Glutamine a day, 5gm with a post workout shake and another 5gm before bed along with Nutrabolics Hemtotropin. I also take Nutrabolics Inferno with SAN T3 and Evolve Acetyl L-Carnitine before cardio workouts to boost my metabolism & get me going! I take SOG-3 daily, along with a calcium supplement and fish oils. During strength phases in my training I include Fusion Purple K as a pre-workout creatine supplement.
