"ASN does not go where the path leads us....Instead we create a new path for others to follow!"
Overview (A Little About Me)
I was born and raised in Newcastle, NSW and had a very sport- orientated childhood. You could often find me playing soccer, swimming and involving myself with the local Surf Club. As a youngster growing up I was always on the skinnier side and decided to start training in my late teens, firstly as a hobby and then for competition. I have always been very business orientated and after my first comp decided competing wasn't a main priority to me, however my love of fitness meant that I have continued to train weights & cardio 5-6 days a week.
Due to my passion of the fitness industry I decided in 2002, to start Australian Sports Nutrition. At the time ASN was an additional business venture as I was also the manager of a Building Manufacturing Company, the owner/operator of an O'Porto's Restaurant and was also into Property Development. As you can tell my main focus over those years was to be successful and make the big $$$.
Over the years, as ASN has grown and my desire to be in the field I'm passionate about has developed, all my attention these days in on ASN. My motto in life is 'Success is made by focusing on your own goals, not the competitors around you'. Since ASN's beginning in 2002, ASN has gone from a one-shop, one-person operation, to now the fastest growing Health & Supplements Company that is a force to be reckoned with!!!
Training History (Years, Location, Trainer)
I started training weights at 17years of age at the local Surf Club gym. My weight at the time was 65kg. I got into the gym to build strength and confidence in my sporting activities. After around 5 years of weight training I increased my overall mass by about 10kg, which was a feat in itself as I continued to play sport all through those years.
At the age of 28 I had an accident which left me with a severely broken leg and was unable to return to soccer. From that point onwards I focused my training on strength and power- training which led me to compete in my first (and only) body building comp. I ended up weighing in at 79kg and took out first place in the Novice Division. To add to my current resume of sporting activities, I've also recently taken up Arakan, a form of Martial Arts, which has helped with my level of fitness and flexibility.
Training Schedule (Training Style and Tips)
Below is an example of my training schedule. I'm addicted to training and living a healthy lifestyle (with a relatively strict diet) and haven't taken a week of either of these in nearly 20 years.
I train 6x 1hour weight session a week as follows:
Day 1. Chest, Calves
Day 2. Back
Day 3. Legs, Calves
Day 4. Rest
Day 5. Arms
Day 6. Shoulders, Calves
Day 7. Rest
Cardio:
3x 1hr Arakan Martial Arts session per week.
3 x 45min cardio session per week which is a brisk walk
Tips:
Learn what is best for YOUR body through trial & error and gaining advice from the right people. This will help you find out what's best for you in regards to training, diet & supplementation. With determination and consistency you will achieve your goals!
For muscle building - keep your sessions hard & intense and always push until failure.

After being in this industry for many years and tying everything under the sun, I firmly believe that supplements do help!! At ASN, we DO NOT believe in promoting gimmicky products! Myself along with the rest of the ASN Team, personally 'guinea pig' all new products to make sure they are good enough to sell them in our stores and online.
How could you possibly buy sport supplements of someone who has no experience in fitness or who does not personally use or tried them??
You could say that everyone at ASN loves supplements. At the end of the we day ensure YOU; the customer is taking safe, effective products that really work!! In essence, we take the guess work out of it for you, so you spend time and money on the supplements that YOU need.
If you have any questions, please contact one of my friendly team at any our stores in your area, or myself on simon@asn.com.au
