EAT GOOD FATS TO BURN FATS . . .
Part 1 by Katie Morris.
For Years now, there has been much controversy about what sort of Fats are in our diet, and what sort of Fats. So, here are the things we need to know about Good Fats that will help us achieve the lean, hard physique we are looking for.
Firstly, let’s have a look at what “ Essential” really means??
Definitively, “essential” is a biological term that means your body is unable to produce these, so we need to supply them to the body.
Good fats and Fish Oils are protective for the body on a number of different levels. They are responsible for decreasing the risk of degenerative disease , increasing the function of internal organs and cognitive processes , cell oxidation and maintaining proper balance in prostoglandin production.
The most exciting thing about Good Fats for us gym goers is the huge role they play in the metabolism of fat. They do this by creating particular hormones that allow for optimal health , building muscle and burning fat.ne of these very important hormones that is produced in the presence of good fats is Testosterone. The environment in turn , becomes optimal for burning fat because the metabolism increases when hormone production takes place.
The fat molecule comes in two forms. It is either an unstable molecular structure , making it harder for the body to break down ; or an unstable structure making the assimilation process much less complicated. Ideally, we should be looking at 20 – 30% of our daily calorie intake to be sourced from good fats. When Carbohydrates are low , dietary fat converts into glucose and is used in place of fuel. Because of this , it is imperative that we supplement with EFA’s to allow this fat burning process to take place.
From an overall health perspective, if good fat intake is correctly aligned with moderate carbohydrate intake , cholesterol can lower to the extent of potentially eliminating cholesterol lowering medications. Finally , and most importantly ; Good Fats are responsible for slowing the digestion and assimilation of carbohydrates. This allows for a steady balance of Blood sugar levels , which keep cravings and binges at bay.
So, it would be fair to say that if you were one of those people who were mislead into believing that all fats should be eliminated from the diet in order to drop body fat..perhaps putting some back may just be the secret to getting that weight moving in the right direction once again!
